چکیده

We investigate the connection between the moduli space of N = 1 su-persymmetric gauge theories and the set of polynomial gauge invariants constrained by classical/quantum relations called syzygies. We examine the existence of a superpotential reproducing these syzygies and the link with the 't Hooft anomaly matching between the fundamental fields at high energy and the gauge invariant degrees of freedom at low energy for the flavour symmetry group. We strengthen the connection by proving that the t'Hooft anomaly matching is equivalent to the existence of a polynomial superpotential describing the low energy dynamics. This corroborates a recent definition of confining theories. We illustrate our general result by considering two examples based on the SU (Nc) and Spin(7) gauge theories. We also examine the role of syzygies in the context of non-Abelian duality. We emphasize the relevance of non-perturbative effects in the dual magnetic theories in proving the equivalence of the electric and magnetic syzygies.

Anomaly Matching Conditions and the Moduli Space of Supersymmetric Gauge Theories

The structure of the moduli space of N = 1 supersymmetric gauge theories is analyzed from an algebraic geometric viewpoint. The connection between the fundamental fields of the ultraviolet theory, and the gauge invariant composite fields of the infrared theory is explained in detail. The results are then used to prove an anomaly matching theorem. The theorem is used to study anomaly matching fo...

’t HOOFT ANOMALY MATCHING FOR DISCRETE SYMMETRIES

We show how to extend the ’t Hooft anomaly matching conditions to discrete symmetries. We check these discrete anomaly matching conditions on several proposed low-energy spectra of certain strongly interacting gauge theories. The excluded examples include the proposed chirally symmetric vacuum of pure N = 1 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories, certain nonsupersymmetric confining theories and som...

Matching Exact Results and One-Instanton Predictions in N = 2 Supersymmetric SU(N) Theories

A one-instanton level test is performed for the proposed reparameterisation scheme matching the conjectured exact low energy results and instanton predictions for N = 2 supersymmetric SU(N) gauge theories with 2N massless fundamental matter hypermultiplets across the entire quantum moduli space. The constants within the scheme which ensure agreement between the exact results and the instanton p...

Light Nonabelian Monopoles and Generalized r-Vacua in Supersymmetric Gauge Theories

We study a class of N = 1 supersymmetric U(N) gauge theories and find that there exist vacua in which the low-energy magnetic effective gauge group contains multiple nonabelian factors, ∏ i SU(ri), supported by light monopoles carrying the assiciated nonabelian charges. These nontrivially generalize the physics of the so-called r-vacua found in softly broken N = 2 supersymmetric SU(N) QCD, with...
